Nautical Clothing For Men - Sweatshirts, Caps and Polo Shirts

With the recent successes of the Disney Pirates of the Caribbean movies, nautical clothing of the pirate type has been much in vogue in the costume party scene, including Halloween costumes. But not everyone is looking for a full blown pirate costume. Anyway, not all seafarers are pirates; at least, I hope they're not!
Some people, of course, are just pleased to show their nautical interest, their love of yachting, their seaman's past, or their simple love of the sea and its vessels, by wearing ordinary clothing that has some sort of symbol or picture that has connotations which a mariner can easily associate with.
There are many ways that an item of clothing can display a nautical connection. The ships mate uniform pictured left shows one of the most obvious: a sailor's uniform with the familiar type of cap. But that is more for a costume party, rather than every day use, unless it's for a real sailor that is. However, if you are looking for everyday wear with a marine flavor, for a non working mariner, then you can find ordinary clothes that in some way establish a nautical image.
Navy colored sweaters are one of the familiar items of clothing that you may associate with a seaman or yachtsman, and those are relatively easy to get hold of, either for yourself or as a gift. With a bit of searching around, though, you can find other pieces of clothing that will satisfy the clothing needs of the nautical enthusiast.
The top picture, for example, is a fairly good example of a light hearted mariner's sweatshirt, with the lighthouse providing the seaman's touch of nostalgia. In this case, the sweatshirt can be personalized, with a list of ship mates for the captain who wears the shirt, in this case Grandpa.
Polo shirts, too, can be made to look nautical for a smart looking yachtsman hanging around the yacht club lounge. The third picture (above left) is of some neat cotton polo shirts, which come with a choice of 4 embroidered logos: life ring, lighthouse, code flag or anchor.
We could not finish without something to do with pirates. For the seafarer or sea lover with a touch of humor, the final picture shows a cap with skull and cross bones. It may not be a full Pirates of the Caribbean costume, but it does remind us that not everyone at sea is a law abiding citizen.
